Barbato is a student at the Kisaro Academy of Sorcery and the team leader of the class taught by Amira.
Personality
Barbato is proud of his abilities as a sorcerer and initially believes that a sorcerer's value is determined by the strength of their spells. Because Amira possesses no magical force, he openly questions whether she is qualified to teach him.[1]
Despite his initial disrespect, Barbato is willing to acknowledge when he is wrong. After witnessing Amira's abilities during Candle Tipping, he apologizes for judging her solely by her lack of magic.[2]
Abilities
Barbato is capable of using offensive magic through a staff. During Candle Tipping, he fires an offensive spell while working alongside the other students to overwhelm Amira.[3]
Plot
Barbato was introduced as the team leader of Amira's class. After learning that Amira could no longer cast spells, he questioned what someone weaker than him could possibly teach a group of sorcerers. Rather than arguing with him, Amira invited the class to participate in an outdoor lesson.[4]
During the lesson, Amira challenged Barbato and the other students to knock over a candle she was protecting. Barbato asked whether they were allowed to attack Amira directly and then joined the group's magical assault. Despite their combined attacks, Amira repeatedly evaded them without using magic and kept the candle upright.[5]
After Amira defeated both the students and Lilicena, Barbato and his classmates apologized for underestimating her. Amira accepted them as her students and stated that she looked forward to teaching them.[6]
